State of the art... in Valparaíso, Chile

Vida We went on a day trip from Santiago (Chile's capital) to the nearby Valparaíso, a pretty town that's worth spending a day in.	Trolley Bus How to get around Valparaíso - a tram and a bus all rolled into one.	Lift The almost antique lifts around town are essential ways to get you to the top of the hills that form Valparaíso.
Although when the lifts are out of order, there's no other way but to walk...	All eyes on me Although most people go to Valparaíso to see the coloured houses on the top of the hills, the street art around town was the best part for me.	Painting

Desert nights... in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

Valley of the Moon This "Valle de la Luna", (unlike the one we visited near La Paz) is in Chile, 13km west of San Pedro de la Atacama - the town that borders Bolivia.	Erosion In this excursion we saw various stone and sand formations which have been carved by wind and water.	Surf The name "Valle de la Luna" or Valley of the Moon was given because of the range of colour and texture that makes this valley look like the surface of the moon.
Amphitheatre This formation was given its name due to its resemblance to a Roman theatre.	Sand Dune	Licancabur The Volcano in the background, Licancabur, is a natural border between Chile and Bolivia.
